ICT Box Scheme - Hi-Tech Kit on Short Term Loan
Back to SharingThe ICT & Technical Services Centre has several boxes of ict equipment available for loan.
The idea behind the scheme is to let schools try out equipment without cost and for the centre to investigate the use of these technologies in the classroom and share good practice.
Resources will be loaned on a short-term basis, the suggested period is five/six weeks. This will help to ensure that we can assist with as many requests as possible however we will consider requests for longer loan periods.
Please send requests which include a short description of what you would like to do with the equipment (less than 200 words please) to John Johnston, Development Officer via email. Please indicate when you would like to have the equipment and for how long. If you require some input in order to support your staff, training etc please indicate this on your email.
In return we would ask that the class teacher(s) involved provide us with a short description of the project and how the technology was used to support learning and teaching.
Evaluation form MS word format.

Flip video camera: The Flip Digital Video Camera is one of the easiest to use video camera available. Pocket size, easy to hold, even by 3 year olds the flip produces good quality 640 x 480 video. The video is easy to import onto a pc and mac via the built in USB cable.

Nintendo Wii with games to develop fitness, socialisation, turn taking etc, literacy (stimulus for writing) Research has shown positive effects on fitness levels and both gross and fine motor skills. Very valuable for pupils with physical and learning needs.

The ONfinity CM2 MAX is a fully featured interactive whiteboard system that transforms any standard whiteboard, flat surface (such as a wall) or projection screen into an interactive whiteboard.
It requires NO signal receiver or device to be attached onto the projection screen surface making it fully portable between classrooms.

The Senteo interactive response system is an assessment tool designed to enhance learning. You can pose questions
during your presentation or lesson to make sure your audience is on track, or you can create a question set and use it as a
formal assessment tool.
We have one Senteo to lend out.
The Nintendo DS is a dual-screen handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. The console features a clamshell design, similar to the Game Boy Advance SP, with two LCD screens inside—with the bottom one being a touchscreen. The Nintendo DS also features a built-in microphone and supports wireless standards, allowing players to interact with each other within short range (10–30 m, depending on conditions) or online with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Airliner: The AirLiner is a wireless slate for a smartboard. It allows you to teach from the front of the room, the back of the class or by a pupil's side and still use the smart board.

Easi-Speak Digital Microphone: A MP3 Recorder that record voices, sounds or music, designed as a microphone children can be the roving reporter or singing star, without being attached to a PC.

Turning Point Learner Response System, class set. Designed to be used with PowerPoint. It allows you to communicate with the class interactively by asking pupils multiple-choice questions to which they can reply using a keypad. TurningPoint collects audience responses in real time and creates detailed reports for analysis.

iMage -Webcam: The iMage webcam delivers high-quality 640x480 video. It can be used with stop frame animation software to produce movies (claymation, or plasticine animations.)

BeeBot (pack of 6) Programmable floor robot, a starting point for teaching control, directional language and programming to young children.
Floor mats, a teacherÕs book and some additional resources are also available.
Pro-bot: Programmable floor robot for teaching more advanced control techniques. The robot features four built-in sensors which can activate procedures from touch, light and sound, and a built-in LCD screen to preview procedures. The Pro-Bot can be programmed via the large built-in keys or via a PC.
